Just being honest here when I say that drinking water bores me to death. Yeah, yeah, I know – it’s important for a healthy body and complexion, etc. but that was never enough to get me to drink more. I used to live my life in a state of chronic dehydration, with every doctor and esthetician tsk-tsking me when I fessed up and told them the honest truth. MY BAD.
However, in the past few months I’ve changed my ways. I actually like staying hydrated and enjoy the benefits of clearer skin, clearer mind, and more energy. I’ve incorporated a few tricks into my routine to change my behavior and ultimately get me to drink more water. Read on for the easiest ways to stay hydrated from a reformed dehydrant.
Who says blondes have more fun?! They’re too busy to have fun because they’re constantly taking care of their hair! Newly blonded, I’m here with my start-to-finish hair routine! With my new, lightened locks, I have to be cognizant of how often I’m washing it, staying away from hot tools, and making sure it gets enough moisture to stay silky smooth.
Armed with the right tools and products, I’ve found a routine that works for my hair; a leave-in conditioner that adds just the right amount of moisture, a heat protectant that doesn’t weigh it down, and a blow dry creme that keeps every coil of frizz away. Since I only wash my hair about twice a week, I can ride this wash, blowout, and style for days!
Firstly, can I just say that I’ve been loving creating YouTube videos? I feel like it’s unlocked a kind of insatiable creativity in me that’s both exciting and totally scary. Before I started YouTube, it felt like the Wild West, with most bloggers staying firmly in their own “blogging” lane. Many YouTubers were also first and foremost video creators, with a blog existing as their second or third platform. I’m excited to be joining what seems like only a handful of content creator crossovers (tongue-twister!), creating both beautiful blog content and YouTube integration!
Anyway, onto the makeup! When I first had the idea for this tutorial, I wasn’t intending to use all drugstore products. But, as with most happy accidents, I happened to pull out all budget-friendly options, making this video an ALL-DRUGSTORE makeup tutorial!
One of my favorite things to do in the summer is mix my foundation with a liquid highlighter; it provides a sheerer coverage and a beautiful lit-from-within glow. Some of these products are new to me, but a lot are old favorites that I keep coming back to again and again! I can’t wait to wear this makeup on repeat all summer.
Summer is finally here and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m looking forward to long days, camping trips with friends, impromptu road trips to the beach, and eating veggies fresh from the grill. Summertime… and the livin’ is easy.
In the past few years, I’ve developed into quite the hat aficionado. I love throwing on a jaunty chapeau and a cool pair of sunnies for a look that’s as practical as it is stylish. This pair of Illesteva sunglasses and Janessa Leoné hat make the perfect duo for a balmy summer day.
To finish the look, a casual, striped Nili Lotan tank and my favorite high-waisted jeans from ASOS, complete with ripped knees and an extremely high rise that nips in at the waist just so. After slipping into these jeans, I’m not sure I’ll ever go back to anything else.
Sawyer had a 62-mile bike race down in Santa Cruz this weekend, so we headed down midday on Saturday to spend some time exploring and enjoying the coast. We went down to the boardwalk and played mini golf (I won, but we both were fairly terrible lol), and then met up with my brother, Kyle, for dinner later in the evening. We went to a casual Italian restaurant which happened to have a live show during dinnertime – the waitstaff sang and danced and did tricks with spinning pizza dough! It was an unexpected surprise and made the meal even more enjoyable.
On Sunday morning, I filmed this little ‘get ready with me’ video at our Air BnB, which was a gorgeous multi-bedroom home in the heart of Santa Cruz. Kyle and I had lunch together and spent a bit of time on the beach in the afternoon while Sawyer was on his bike ride.
I love this look for a casual + carefree summer weekend spent on the coast! Throw on a pretty sundress, a pair of cute sandals, and minimal makeup – and don’t forget your swimsuit!
I love trying out new beauty products – it’s probably one of my favorite things to do! But for me, there’s nothing more disappointing than finally getting my hands on a cult classic, only to find out that it doesn’t live up to the hype. You know you can come to me for honest and unbiased product reviews, so here are the 6 products that I think are totally overrated.
