As I previously mentioned, I’m really loving hats this fall. Besides obviously keeping you warm, hats are a stylish statement piece! Here are the six styles I’m loving for this fall.
J.Crew nailed it with this fun twist on the classic baseball hat – made of 100% wool, not canvas. It’ll keep your head nice and toasty while you look tomboy-chic.
A classic camel-colored fedora is a wardrobe staple this fall! It looks great paired with jeans and leather jacket for a casual-cool vibe.
This hat is so cozy you’ll never want to take it off! Wear it on those extra chillllllly days for a look that’s super stylish and functional.
So Parisian-chic! Pair this jaunty chapeau with a red peacoat and complete your look with a faux fur collar for a style that’s elegant and festive.
A floppy wool hat in a lovely color looks great paired with a light gray boucle coat, tights, and suede heels.
This hat looks sharp and can instantly dress up even the most casual of outfits! Try it with your coziest sweater and skinny jeans for instant fall style.
Which hat will you rock this fall?

Gals, I’ve found it. I’ve found the holy grail all boot-lovers seek: a high-quality yet affordably-priced leather boot. Meet the Seychelles Orchestra II boot. They’re real leather and they’re under $100! I stumbled across these babies tonight while browsing Gilt (they’re totally overpriced on Gilt, by the way) and I immediately Googled them to find reviews. Lo and behold, Amazon is selling them for (wait for it…) only $85. Do you know how hard it is to find a pair of boots that won’t fall apart instantly while also not declaring bankruptcy in the process? A real leather, high-quality boot with great reviews for only $85 is not something one comes across every day. I’ve already ordered a pair for myself (in black!) and I can’t wait for them to arrive. I’ll be wearing mine with leggings, skirts, dresses, and skinny jeans this fall! You need to buy yourself a pair of these boots (immediately).
XO, J
P.S. The reviews that I read recommend sizing up half a size because the boots run small (gotta make room for cozy socks!). Also, sign up for Amazon’s Shoe Subscription emails and get 20% off and free shipping! My boots were reduced to $67.
This deal was too good not to share! Kate Spade is having a surprise one-day sale with up to 75% off so many fabulous things! Since Kate Spade is the queen of statement bags (and we all know how I feel about statement bags), treat yourself to this ladylike one (or this one). I also have my eye on this pretty wallet (in sea glass) and this watch for those whimsical days. So what are you waiting for? Go get yourself something pretty! The sale ends tomorrow at midnight.
When it comes to creating a great outfit, there’s more than meets the eye. Maybe I’ve watched too many episodes of What Not to Wear, but I’ve learned that to create a truly amazing and visually interesting outfit, you need to incorporate these four elements:
Color: Brick red, baby pink, cobalt blue, and mustard yellow are all examples of colors. Navy, camel, black, gray, white, brown, and tan are all examples of neutrals. In order to create an interesting outfit, you must wear a color (if not more than one!) and balance out the rest of your look with neutrals.
Pattern: Stripes, polka dots, and floral are all examples of patterns. There’s no hard and fast rule to mixing patterns except to avoid stripes with stripes, floral with floral, etc. Geometric patterns look great paired with floral patterns.
Texture: By wearing a variety of textures, your outfit will have more dimension. Wear a silk top with a wool skirt or a velvet blazer with a Ponté knit top. Avoid wearing all one fabric (cotton jersey, specifically).
Shine: Complete your outfit with patent leather shoes, sparkly jewelry, or a satiny scarf. This is the final step in creating a perfectly put-together look!
Here are two examples of how to execute the perfect outfit!
I’m happy to report that my favorite shoes I’ve ever owned have a lowed priced dupe! About a year ago I picked up a pair of J.Crew Cece suede ballet flats and have worn them to death since. They are the most comfortable flats ever. Scratch that, they’re the most comfortable shoes ever. This is because they have a teeny-tiny, cushy hidden wedge so that your foot is not completely one with the ground. So when I noticed a suspiciously familiar pair of shoes at DSW the other afternoon, I had to do some investigating. Fortunately for me, I was wearing my trusty Cece flats that day and could compare side-by-side. Let me tell you right now that they are the EXACT SAME SHOES. I even compared the sole design and stitching (by the way, the DSW website mistakenly labels these flats as faux leather, but I assure you that they are 100% real suede). These shoes must be made by a larger manufacturer and then sold to both J.Crew and DSW. Here’s the difference: J.Crew sells theirs for $128 and DSW sells theirs for $59.95 (and I even snagged a pair on sale for $41!). Buy a pair of these flats now and your feet will thank you later: Audrey Brooke Newport Flats.
A few years ago, my parents went on vacation to Italy. As a memento to his trip, my Dad purchased the most beautiful, buttery leather jacket from an Italian leather shop. He even had it monogrammed in gold leaf on the inside pocket. To this day, whenever he wears it, I get a twinge of jealousy. A leather jacket is quintessentially, classically fall. It’s something you can just as easily throw on over a tee shirt and jeans or a lacy dress. Leather jackets will never go out of style, so it’s a great investment piece. Don’t be afraid to splurge a little on a beautifully made, quality leather jacket this fall – I guarantee that you’ll be wearing it for many years. Here’s a round-up of some of my favorite gorgeous leather jackets.
