Full disclosure: I am the queen of casual-chic. On the weekends, it’s hard to find me in anything but tee dresses and ankle boots. However, I think I may have found the crowning jewel in my casual-chic wardrobe with this chambray jumpsuit. This baby checks allllll the boxes: soft, slouchy, comfy, and it’s a onesie. What more could you want from a summer outfit?
On another (yet related) note, Old Navy has been KILLING it lately. I’ve always loved Old Navy for easy, affordable basics, but they’ve really stepped up their game lately. I couldn’t help myself and picked up this skirt, these pants, these shorts, and these shorteralls this weekend. #sorrynotsorry
When I emerged wearing this jumpsuit, Sawyer asked me, “Umm… who told you that was stylish?” This is of course man-code for “why are you wearing that, you look like an adult baby.” I, of course, confidently replied, “No one told me, I make my own rules homie!” ;) Maybe the joke is on me, but I don’t care. Happy jumpsuit shopping!
We made it… it’s officially warm weather season! Summer can be tricky to dress for, though, as layering really isn’t an option. It can difficult to strike a balance between staying cool and not showing too much skin. I’ve decided to start a summer style series to give you a few options. Give your tired shorts-and-a-tee combo a rest and try an easy style to keep you looking stylish (not sweaty)!
Try wearing a linen + cotton blend tee with your usual pencil skirt to work. The skirt keeps the look from feeling too casual and the tee helps you stay cool on hot days. Feel free to tuck in the shirt instead of knotting it to keep the outfit work-appropriate. Class it up with a pair of killer heels in a fun color and you have an easy + chic work outfit! More summer style outfits coming soon!
XO, J
P.S To keep your feet comfortable all day, sprinkle some baby powder into your heels – it absorbs sweat and prevents chafing!
The best time of year is when the long, dark winter is over and it stays light until well past the end of a long work day. Komorebi may be temporarily blinding, but it’s most definitely beautiful. There is something wonderfully evocative and uniquely magical about sunlight filtered through green foliage.
I love this look for a casual weeknight date. It’s so easy to dress up a basic black slip dress and leather jacket with a gauzy scarf. I’m obsessed with this yellow and blue Aztec printed one from MoonCats. I can’t get enough Aztec print lately! It’s definitely a favorite for spring.
MoonCats would also like to offer you 30% off all scarves by using promo code WINKBLOG30OFF. Click here to buy the Aztec Temple scarf featured in the post!
Let’s be real for a sec. As twenty-somethings on a tight budget, it can be hard to keep our closets fresh without maxing out our credit cards. Over the years, I’ve learned how to become a savvy shopper without sacrificing quality or style – and now I want to share my wisdom with you! ;) Read on for my best tips on saving money and staying stylish!
1. Promo codes: I never order anything online without first looking on RetailMeNot for promo codes. Even if it’s just free shipping, this trick has saved me SO much money!
2. Poshmark: My love for Poshmark has been well-documented on this blog. Poshmark is my go-to for not only selling my old clothing, but buying as well! Poshmark has SO MANY items new with tags from my favorite places to shop like Madewell, ASOS, and Anthropologie. Download the app and use code BTKDD for $5 off your first order!
3. Wait until something goes on sale: Stores like J.Crew and LOFT have a high turnover rate and most of their new items go on sale within a few weeks. Be patient and wait until the item you love goes on sale or they have a sitewide sale (LOFT always has sitewide sales).
4. Cost-per-wear: When purchasing an item, try to think of the cost-per-wear. As in, if a piece is $50 and you’ve worn it 10 times, the cost-per-wear is $5. I recently splurged on a leather jacket that was definitely more than I usually spend. But I’ve worn it almost every day since, making it one of the cheapest cost-per-wear pieces I own. This rule of thumb especially applies to seasonal items, like scarves or bathing suits.
5. Abandon your cart: When shopping online, log into your account and add a few things to your cart. Then close the window and wait. Usually in a day or two you’ll receive an email with a reminder about the items and (if you’re lucky) they’ll throw in a promo code or free shipping to entice you to buy. Cart abandonment is online retailers’ biggest fear, so use it to your advantage!
6. The Target trick: Target clearance is insanely addictive, so here’s a few tricks to save even more money. If the price ends in 8, it will be marked down again. If it ends in 4, it’s the lowest it will be. Target’s markdown schedule: Monday – kids’ clothing, office supplies, electronics; Tuesday – women’s clothing and domestics; Wednesday – men’s clothing, toys, and health & beauty; Thursday – lingerie, shoes, and housewares; Friday – cosmetics.
7. Go thrifting: Some of my favorite pieces in my closet I’ve found when thrifting. If you live in the SF area, Crossroads Trading, Out of the Closet, and Pretty Penny are all great options. I also really love Goodwill and Salvation Army. My favorite thrifting find to date: a knee-length wool peacoat from J.Crew for $20!
8. Amazon Prime subscription: With the amount of things available on Amazon for cheap, I order everything from quinoa in bulk to makeup brushes. Our Amazon Prime subscription has paid for itself!
What are some of your tricks for saving $ and staying stylish?
I guess it’s no secret that I love a good, quirky piece of clothing to add diversity to my wardrobe. I think we can all agree that there’s not much quirkier (or more difficult to style) than a pair of overalls. It can be easy to look too childish (Oshkosh B’gosh, anyone?), or too frumpy in them (making pottery in a garage, barefoot). I’ve had these overalls in my closet for about 6 months and have worn them a surprising amount of times, remixing my outfit every time I wear them. I decided to dust them off this past weekend for a quick photo sesh at Marina Park in Emeryville with Bay Area photog (and all-around awesome person), Leah Bentley. This time around, I styled them with bright pink lips, a patterned silk blouse, and chunky oxfords. I think it might be my favorite look yet! Keep reading for my tips on how to style a pair of overalls!
Choose a sophisticated top, like a white linen tee, a silk button-up oxford, or chunky wool sweater. Avoid childish prints or anything too boho.
With overalls, fit is everything. Stores like Zara and H&M sell overalls in slim, dark denim that ups the sophistication factor. Make sure to wear your correct size (do not size up) for a current fit. I was going for a looser fit, so I chose these slightly slouchy ones from Urban Outfitters.
Overalls can cause the illusion of stumpy legs, so choose footwear with a slight heel or tapered toe to elongate your legs.
Be adventurous! As with anything you wear, there are no real rules. Have fun and try out styles you might not ordinarily select – you might even discover your own signature look! :)
What is Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus fritattas.” – Leslie Knope
Happy GALentine’s Day! This year, Melissa of MelSanV, Christina of Closet Luxe, and I got the festivities started a little early and met up a few weekends ago for brunch and a style shoot in the city. Before our brunch, we headed to the Style Lend HQ to get glammed up. The ladies at Style Lend graciously allowed us try on and select our dress of choice (getting to try on unlimited designer dresses? Hello, #PRINCESSSTATUS!). For brunch, we went to a little place in the Dogpatch called Piccino. The food was divine and the company even better!
Galentine’s Day was pretty special this year because I got to celebrate it with these two ladies! We’ve grown close over these past few months. Not only are they amazing and talented bloggers, but they’re also real gals with integrity. Making friends here in SF was a slow start for me, which is why I feel so lucky to have met them – keep reading for our meet-cute stories!
I really loved this Galaxy dress by St. John. Getting to try on dresses at the Style Lend HQ was definitely a pinch-me moment!
How Carrie Bradshaw does Melissa look in this skirt?! I’m obsessed with Melissa’s chic and edgy style. She’s always willing to try out new styles and trends and rocks to hell outta ALL of ’em. Melissa and I met at PoshFest back in November and by the end of the weekend, we decided that we were friends (LOL). We instantly bonded over being DINKs (double income no kids!), our obsession with French bulldogs, and our new West Coast lifestyle. I love this girl dearly!!!!
Christina is to epitome of ladylike elegance in this Three Floor dress. She’s the master of high-low wardrobe mixing and I’m obsessed with her classically polished style! We met at our first #BLOGGERSWHOBRUNCH and became fast friends. And those shoes! Christina has the best shoe collection! Gurl, you’re doing everything right.

I feel so fortunate to have these wonderful gals in my life! Happy Galentine’s Day to all my friends, both near and far (and some very far!). I love you all!!!
